UFC 113: Stout vs. Stephens Mixed Martial Arts Preview

For the third straight year UFC is visiting the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada for UFC 113 on May 8.

Canadian fans are looking forward card as Ontario boy, Lightweight sensation, “Hands of Stone” Sam Stout, as he takes on the “Lil’ Heathen” Jeremy Stephens of San Diego, California. Reminiscent of Stouts debut UFC fight, it’s Canada vs. the USA on May 08 2010.

Jeremy Stephens is 15-5, while Stout has the minor advantage at 16-5. Stephens has only just begun to gain momentum with a 1-win streak while Stout is also on a 2-win streak. This is going to be one heck of a slug-fest as both men know a thing or two about demolishing their opponents with strikes.

Jeremy Stephens won the honor of “Knockout of the night” twice in his UFC career and Sam Stout dazzled in kickboxing with a 16-4 record. Jeremy Stephens expertise lie in Jiu Jitsu, Muay Thai, Boxing and Sam Stout specializes in Muay Thai and Kickboxing.

On a night where Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua battle it out in the main event for the Light heavyweight championship of the world, this lightweight battle on the under card could easily steal the show. MMA Fighter Profile: Fedor Emelianenko

Russian heavyweight MMA fighter Fedor Emelianenko was born September 28, 1976. World Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts Heavyweight Champion and previously the winner of Pride Heavyweight Championship and also won in Pride 2004 Grand Prix, World Combat Sambo championship and is a Russian National Judo Championship medalist.

Trained by Vasiliy Ivanovich Gavrilov and Vladimir Mihailovich Voronov he started learning Sambo and Judo techniques when he began fighting. A strong will power and perseverance are his greatest strengths.

Receiving his “Master of Sports” title in Sambo and Judo back in 1997 he also earned his bronze medal in Russian Judo Championship. Coach Alexander Vasilievich Michkov coached his study of strike and he debuted in MMA for Japanese RINGS organization but was not allowed to make head strikes. At age 25 in 2000 he started Sambo mixed martial arts in spite of money being tight at the time.

Fedor Emelianenko has trained with sport specific training in kickboxing, grappling and boxing and is working to improve his strength and skills by training two or three times a day. Covering 7 to 9 miles twice a day he also works pull ups, crunches and dips. Travelling once or twice a year to Kisovodsk for high altitude training has improved his stamina. Muay Thai coach Ruslan Nagnibeda, Doctor Oleg Neustroev, grappling coach Voronov, boxing coach Michkiv, his training partners Roman Zentsov, and his brother Aleksander round out his team members.

With a default victory Fedor defended his World Championship title with opponent failing to show up in semis, by checking out the Bulgarian fighter in just 40 seconds of the start of the fight and finalist declining to fight. Finishing third In Nov 16, 2008 he lost to 23 year old Blagoi Ivanov at Combat Sambo World Championships.

UFC 113 Preview: MACHIDA vs. SHOGUN 2

With UFC 113 drawing near it is easy to get excited about the great line up planned for this mixed martial arts event. Some of the best in the sport step inside the octagon on May 8th 2010. MMA & UFC fans alike are set to enjoy the great fights scheduled and expect this to be the UFC Fight of the year.

Lyoto Machida battles Mauricio Rua for a second time which should be an exciting fight by 2 of the best Light Heavyweights in the sport. No one comes close the fighting style of Machida and Rua hits hard and is ready to thrown everything his way. Their first fight was close and went the full 5 rounds, will it happen that way again or will we get an early winner?

The guy everyone loves to hate, the bad boy of UFC, Josh Koscheck, fights it out against Paul Daly in the Welterweight division. Always an entertaining fighter who gives 100% each and every time, Koscheck is a fighter with much to prove. Paul Daly, an up and comer won’t be stopped by this as he tries to carve out his place in the UFC.

Fan favourite Heavyweight Kimbo Slice returns in UFC 113 to take on Matt Mitronie. Slice and Mitronie were both featured in The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. Will Slice overcome his aches and pains to prove he has what it takes to be a champ? Or will the hard hitting Mitronie show the world he’s an MMA fighter and deserves to be the champ?
