UFC 116 Preview for the Lytle VS. Brown Bout

The welterweight match between Chris Lytle and Matt Brown at UFC 116 on July 3rd 2010 should garner a lot of attention for these two fighters.

For those who follow these two fighters they know that they both display exciting styles and outcomes in their matches. Lytle has generally been the most popular in his fights.

A competitor in every match that he participates in Lytle has had several “fight of the night” awards recently and is known to stick in during tough matches. Having beaten several good fighters recently his losses came off against some tough fighters.

Matt Brown has been a solid fighter since being promoted to the UFC going 4-2 at this level of fighting. This fight will actually be a rematch of a previous fight while in the United Fight League. These two combatants squared off and had a good fight with the fight ending in the 2nd round when Lytle managed to pull out the victory with a guillotine choke on Brown.

Amped up and ready for this rematch Brown will be anxious to show the world that he is a different fighter than he was 3 years ago when last matched up against Lytle. Brown should expect Lytle to come at him with everything he has in this rematch.

UFC 114 Fight Card: Rampage vs. Evans

Saturday, May 29, 2010 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV UFC 114 is takes place. This card features some great matchups and exciting fighters.

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson against Rashad “Sugar” Evans headlines this fight. This is a 205lb light heavyweight bout that was originally scheduled for UFC 98 and because of Jackson’s film schedule and talk of retirement, the fight was canceled and later rescheduled. The two men constantly butted heads during the Ultimate Fighter show and should prove to be a great grudge match.

Former light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin verses Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is co-heading this fight and is also a light heavyweight bout. This will be Nogueuria’s first fight back since suffering a broken ankle in December. Forrest Griffin is coming off an embarrassing loss to Anderson Silva and a split decision win over Tito Ortiz back in November. The wild fighting style of Forrest Griffin and the very technical fighting style of Antonio Rogerio Nogueira should make for a very exciting fight.

The main card will be also featuring John Hathaway vs. Diego Sanchez, Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller, and Dong Hyun Kim vs. Amir Sadollah. The undercard rounds out with fights from Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow, Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares, Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon, Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson, Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate, Joe Brammer vs. Aaron Riley and Jesse Forbes vs. Ryan Jensen.

Coinciding with the 2010 UFC Fan Expo, which takes place May 28-29 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino fans should be prepared for a great weekend at the expo followed by the explosive fights at UFC 114.

UFC 113: Stout vs. Stephens Mixed Martial Arts Preview

For the third straight year UFC is visiting the Bell Centre, in Montreal, Canada for UFC 113 on May 8.

UFC 113 Preview: MACHIDA vs. SHOGUN 2

With UFC 113 drawing near it is easy to get excited about the great line up planned for this mixed martial arts event. Some of the best in the sport step inside the octagon on May 8th 2010. MMA & UFC fans alike are set to enjoy the great fights scheduled and expect this to be the UFC Fight of the year.

Lyoto Machida battles Mauricio Rua for a second time which should be an exciting fight by 2 of the best Light Heavyweights in the sport. No one comes close the fighting style of Machida and Rua hits hard and is ready to thrown everything his way. The guy everyone loves to hate, the bad boy of UFC, Josh Koscheck, fights it out against Paul Daly in the Welterweight division. Fan favourite Heavyweight Kimbo Slice returns in UFC 113 to take on Matt Mitronie. Slice and Mitronie were both featured in The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV. Will Slice overcome his aches and pains to prove he has what it takes to be a champ? Or will the hard hitting Mitronie show the world he’s an MMA fighter and deserves to be the champ?

UFC 112 Preview: Invincible in Abu Dahbi

The date for UFC 112 has been set for April 10, 2010. The United Arab Emirates’ Abu Dahbi further improves their International standing by hosting the card dubbed ‘Invincible’. This event being staged for an outdoor arena is another first for the UFC.

While this may change, at the time of this writing the main event is set for the UFC Middleweight title that pits the champion Anderson Silva against Demian Maia. Originally Silva was set to fight Vitor Belfort but a training injury forced Belfort to bow out of UFC 112.

The other match ups for this MMA event are as follows: Lightweight Champion B.J. Penn defends his title against Frankie Edgar, Matt Hughes returns to the octagon and battles Renzo Gracie in the middleweight division, Mark Munoz takes on Kendall Grove in the middleweight division, and Raphael Dos Anjos takes on Terry Etim in a lightweight bout.

UFC regulars Phil Davis, John Gunderson, Paul Taylor, among others are featured in a huge preliminary card. The Ultimate Fighting Championship looks to add another chapter to their awesome history in UFC 112.

A Return to UFC for George St. Pierre in UFC 111

Ultimate Fighting Championship to host its UFC 111 in New Jersey at the Prudential Center on March 27, 2010.

The main event will be pay per view and will likely include George St. Pierre vs. Dan Hardy, Jon Finch vs. Thiago Alves, Frank Mir vs. Shane Carwin, with a few more yet to be named. With two, count em two titles on the line is there any wonder there is a lot of buzz on this MMA fight.

George St. Pierre, one of the best welterweight fighters of the sport, looks to retain his dominance on the mat and his reign. Another contender in the heavyweight category is Frank Mir; he is looking to become the second man in UFC MMA history to achieve a world title three different times.

Dana White, the UFC president, has talked up the fights and boasts of the incredible potential of these matchups. Regarded as the best pound for pound fighter in the world, George St. Pierre has been completely dominant as of late. With that said you still can’t disregard his opponent. Dan Hardy has the ability to upset the fight with his incredible power and MMA confidence.

Another bout matches Frank Mir, who has an incredible submission game, has an opponent that is undefeated and specializes in his wrestling moves, Shane Carwin.

For any die hard MMA fans out there both fights ought to have a lot of action making UFC 111 a must-see event.

UFC 110 in Sydney Australia: Betting Preview

MMA will be an International Affair as UFC 110 takes place down under in Sydney, Australia on February 21, 2010.

The main events at UFC 110 is headlined by bout between Antonio Nogueria of Brazil will take on the up-and-coming Cain Velasquez in this heavyweight MMA matchup.

The second “main event” of the evening has the UK powerhouse Michael Bisping against another Brazilian, Wanderlei Silva.

Also on the card are Stephan Bonnar, Keith Jardine, and Marko CroCrop.

Nogureria has the edge over Velasquez at most of the sportsbooks. If you place experience as the deciding factor then you have to give the nod to Nogureria.

Continuing on with the odds, most books are giving up a 4 to 1 advantage to Silva in the Bisping-Silva fight. In the CroCrop-Rothwell match, the powerful Russian is dominating the wily veteran in the books. All in all it should be a great night of fights with major upsets a big possibility.
